| Ashenrise |
| Ashenrise is a very old Covenant. It was build in AD 986, south from mountain Galty, on the ruins of Viper's Nest. Due to the high magical aura, and the former demonic presence, the ash of the devastated Covenant remained there. Later, the fortress of Ashenrise was build in the centre of the ash covered place. The Covenant was named after this. The magi of Ashenrise are: Agvilius of Verditius is 169 years old. On paper, he is the Primus of the Covenant. In fact he is in twilight. He is (or was ?) a Rego Mentem specialist. Stormheart of Flambeau is 123 years old. He is a typical Flambeau magus, armed with destructive spells. As his name shows, he is an energetic and easily angered man. He uses not only Perdo and Ignem, but Auram spells too. Chlodius of Merinita. He hasn't been seen in the Covenant for twenty years. Some say, he lives in Arcadia. Anyway, he is a generalist. He would be 181 years old. Elinor of Tremere is 143 years old. She is the only maga in Ashenrise. She is a Master of Undeads, a Rego Corpus specialist. If we can believe in the gossips, she can raise an Undead Army and able to summon Ash Ghosts from the land that surrounds the Covenant. Frederick of Jerbiton. The 82 years old magi maintains the last mundane relations of Ashenrise. He uses well his Mentem spells in diplomacy. Tulius of Quaesitor is 103 years old. He came from Venice, 69 years ago. He has cruel and powerful spells, so it's wise to be respectful with him. The Black Man is a member of House Quaesitor. He was a Moorish warrior who had the Gift and learned to use Hermetic Magic. Now he is 71 years old. He is just as dangerous as his pater, Tulius. Ashenrise is an Autumn Covenant. It has really great magical and political power. It's on the top in the hierarchy of the Order in Hibernia. It causes problems, that Stormheart wants to gain the title of Primus of Ashenrise. The debates between Stormheart and Elinor (for example during Tribunals) often make magi from other Covenants laugh, but they don't give evidence of it. They do it wise... |
| Bright Towers |
| The Bright Towers were build in 1213 AD, west from Belderg. The Covenant consists of five towers: four for the magi and one for their grogs and companions. The bog, where the towers stand, is an Auram and Imagonem Vis source. Because of the strong magical nature of the place, every night a lightning aura can be seen around the towers. The Covenant was named for this. The magi of Bright Towers are: White Dove of Bjornaer is 37 years old. Her name reveals her Heart Beast, the White Dove. She is a Muto Animal specialist. Shadow, the Cursed One from House Bonisagus is 30 years old. His clothes always cover his entire body. No one has ever seen his face, but his Pater. It is rumoured that when he was an apprentice, he wandered deep into the catacombs of Howling Hills. When he came back he could do nothing, but scream. From that time it causes him great pain, if he goes to sunlight. Although he is young, he is a master of Magic Theory. Armand of Ex-Miscellanea is 42 years old. He came from France in the age of 22. He was an elementalist, and the magi in Howling Hills gave him the chance to join the Order. He is a Terram specialist. Kilith of Flambeau is 58 years old. She is the Primus of the Covenant. She has conflicts with Armand, because the Ex-Miscellanea is unable to bear that Kilith, a woman, stands above him in the hierarchy of Bright Towers. The Covenant of Bright Towers is a weak one, but it has special role in the politics of the Hibernian Tribunal. Magi of Howling Hills wanted to have an ally, in the battle against Water Keep. That's why they initiated the foundation of Bright Towers. The Spring Covenant is under the protection of Howling Hills, so every move against it, is against Howling Hills too. The plan of Howling Hills, to help Bright Towers and make them powerful, is obvious, but no one knows, what the magi of Bright Towers want to do. Do they really want to fight against Water Keep? |
| Cliffheart |
| Once Cliffheart was a powerful Covenant, an asylum for the members of the Order. But that times have gone. Now it's withdrawn and inert. The last three magi don't care about anything, but themselves. They fiercely guard their collected knowledge and don't let anyone close to them. During the recent decades, the fortress of Cliffheart has been ruined, due to negligence. Most of the covenfolk went away, only the most loyal ones, the consortes above all, stayed there. The last magi totally retired to their underground laboratories, so it isn't well known, what happens in the Covenant now. The magi of Cliffheart are: Al'gor of Verditius is 145 years old. It is rumoured, he became mad and devastated his laboratory. He is a Master of enchanting. Aswick of Tytalus is 127 years old. His Pater was a Demon slayer. Surely, Aswick has great control over magical energies. Marvel of Criamon. He has disappeared. Only his amici knows when. He was a generalist. He would be 154 years old. Cliffheart is not a remarkable Covenant. It has lost almost all of its power. If nothing changes, it will die out in years. And then a fierce war might broke out between Covenants to decide, who will get the magical treasure of Cliffheart and who will own the 'Heart' (no one knows what is it, surely a Vis source), after the Covenant was named. |
| Greyforest |
| The founder magi of Greyforest had to fight with Seelie faeries, for the possession of the land, where now the Covenant stands. The faeries thought, it would be an easy task to drive away the humans from their forest, but they didn't count on the Flambeau magi. When the Seelie king realized, that he could do nothing, but flee, he cursed the forest: from that time no one, but Seelie faeries can enjoy the beauty of the forest. Humans see everything pale and grey and always feel sadness. But after this the magical place still had much more advantages for the magi than disadvantages, so they stayed there and built up their Covenant, which was called Greyforest. The magi of Greyforest are: Derbail of Criamon is 123 years old. She is the filia of Marvel (Cliffheart) Neither Marvel's, nor Derbail's life is enviable. Though the maga isn't mad, but she is in Twilight for two years. But who knows? She surely enjoy it. After all, she is a Criamon. Guaire of Flambeau is 34 years old. He is a really weird man. About two meter tall. Usually wears full chain mail armour, and has a great battle axe. Of course his magical knowledge isn't the best, but who cares? Just look at him! Ultan of Flambeau is 91 years old. He is the Pater of Guiare. No one knows, where he found his apprentice, but everyone agrees on, that it was time wasting to teach him. Ultan just laughs at his criticers. When the time of battle comes... Tanicus of Quaesitor is 47 years old. He usually isn't at Greyforest. Together with Tulius and the Black Man. They are looking for diabolists within the Order. Suddenly they appear in a Covenant, stay some days there and then leave. Without saying a word. Anyway he is an Imagonem specialist. Avitius of Verditius is 121 years old. Like the two Flambeaus, Avitius is armed with effective battle spells. Though he is a bit older, but he is just as dangerous even in the middle of a battlefield. He is a Perdo specialist. Aurnia of Merinita 113 years old. She is a calm and peaceful maga. She has been asked a lot, how she could stay in Greyforest, with those mads. She didn't say anything, just smiled. Some speak about Certámens, what... This Covenant has great magical and political power, and demands more and more. The Quaesitor magi visit it very often. According to the gossips Greyforest is a worthy heir of Viper's Nest. Both in aggressivity and in the field of diabolism. Some say we don't have to wait too long and a Wizards' March has to be called again. |
| Howling Hills (Vorguth's Tomb) |
| Vorguth's Tomb was founded by native Celtic wizards. When they built up their Covenant over Vorguth's tomb (a legendary Celtic hero, who was buried in a magical place) they thought, their magic would be effective enough to protect themselves. But they were wrong. They could agree with the warchiefs on staying there, but during the next time the conditions changed. The magi grew in power and they made expeditions into the catacombs. When they returned with the treasures of Vorguth, the peace treaty broke up. The "Defenders of the Tomb" were traitors. In a short, but bloody war the local clan destroyed Vorguth's Tomb (The Covenant, not the tomb itself). Lorcann of Ex-Miscellanea managed to survive. He fled to Silvergate where Tyrone of Bonisagus joined to him. A month later they went back to the ruins and camped down in the catacombs. They wanted to establish a new Covenant there. Fortunately the clans didn't manage to get the magic items, because they were afraid of terrible curses. So the two magi found most of them. But that time they were not alone. Water Keep's magi also wanted to plunder the fallen Covenant. Lorcann and Tyrone won the Certámens and forced the magi of Water Keep to retreat. During the next months Vorguth's Tomb reborn. Its new name became Howling Hills. Indeed not the magi, but the mundanes named the Covenant. In order to keep the curious people away from the Covenant and avoid another destruction, the magi used their magic. Soon every peasant and warchief knew, that "evil spirits" inhabit the tomb. Of course they feared the place. The foul ones, who dared to enter, disappeared mysteriously. The magi of Howling Hills are: Garrett of Ex-Miscellanea is 90 years old. He is the filius of Lorcann, who is dead since years. Garrett, as his pater is an alchemist master. His ties to the Hermetic Magic are not as weak as Barra's. He is a Muto specialist. Barra of Ex-Miscellanea is 61 years old. He is a Spirit Master. Some say he made the tales of the evil spirits of Howling Hills true. Tyrone of Bonisagus is 100 years old. Once he lived in Silvergate, but he had (and has) great problems with spellcasting. In Dublin he ruined his laboratory often, and it caused a lot trouble. He was the black sheep in Silvergate. But fortunately he met with Lorcann. Rynagh of Tytalus is 48 years old. She is the filia of Aswick (Cliffheart). The old magi used her as a slave, so she left the Covenant in few months. It is unknown how she could pass her Gauntlet, but she did it. She is a Vim specialist. Ervic of Bjornaer is 76 years old. He lived in Greyforest for a while, but he could never get used to the place. Because his heart beast is bat he found Howling Hills a good Covenant to live. When Tyrone and Lorcann got back their own (Water Keep don't agree) properties a duel started. Water Keep never forgot the failure and swore vengeance. (During the next Tribunal the magi voted about this event. They didn't admitted that Water Keep was right when it wanted to get the magical treasure of Vorguth's Tomb). Since then both Covenant grew in power, and they try to do as much trouble to each other as possible. Once Howling Hills wanted to make peace, but Water Keep rejected... |
| Mistwood |
| The Covenant of Mistwood was founded in 1217 on Inisheer, near Lisdoonvaarna. The two founder magi, Kescog of Flambeau and One Eyed of Criamon came from Water Keep. One Eyed led Kescog to the island in Twilight. They found a magical tomb in the middle of the dense woods, in which vampires were imprisoned. (One of them seemed to be alive!) The Criamon magi wanted to solve the secrets of the tomb and decided to build up a Covenant on the island. It was named after the thick fog and the forest that covers the island. The magi of Mistwood are: One Eyed of Criamon Kescog of Flambeau Mistwood is a very weak Covenant. Recently they had a lot problems even with their supplies. Their magical and political power is pathetic. Fortunately their Home Covenant is quite powerful and it can keep the enemy moves against Mistwood back. |
| Silvergate |
| Silvergate was founded in AD 1052. Since then the Covenant changed almost nothing. It has the best mundane relations, a lot contacts and allies. That's why the most aggressive Covenants don't dare to insult it. If true information from distant lands is needed, the best is to go to Silvergate. The Covenant has a silver like portal. Through this, the most powerful Covenants can get to Silvergate in a moment. Ashenrise and Cliffhheart are surely have this connection. It is said that not they are the only ones. The magi of Silvergate are: Heremon of Mercere is 117 years old. He is the oldest Redcap in Hibernia, but he still travels the land. As his sodales, he doesn't have the gift. Very reliable. Kane of Mercere is 90 years old. He tries to do his best. Acknowledgement and power is important for him. Rora of Mercere is 52 years old. Though she is young, she proved that she is able to perform very difficult tasks. He has a magical animal companion, a wolf. Cervidius of Verditius is 135 years old. Because the Mercere magi don't have the gift they needed someone to make useful devices for them. Cervidius came to Silvergate and accepted this task. Gearald of Jerbiton is 46 years old. Silvergate is located in the city of Dublin. It's very dangerous to be a magus in the middle of the mundane society. Gerald manages the mundane affairs, the dirty work, as magi from other houses say. He is also a good librarian, he directs the great mundane library of Silvergate. Silvergate has a special role in Hibernia. The other Covenants could live without it, but sometimes it would be quite difficult. Everyone agrees on that it's better to know the future then fall prey to it. |
| Water Keep |
| Water Keep consists of six towers, each is on a separate island of Lough Derg. The first one - the Council Island - was build in 1154. The magi hold the councils here, anyway only the covenfolk live on this island these days. It is rumoured, that a two-headed drake inhabits the lake and protects the Covenant from intruders. But recently the worm got mad and attacked the magi too... Although there are problems with the drake, Water Keep is a safe place. It is isolated from the mundane society and has good magical resources. Due to this isolation, the Quaesitoris are quiet suspicious. The magi of Water Keep are: Liagan of Flambeau is 73 years old. He is the last gauntleted magus of Stormheart. It's needless to say anything else. His filius is Kescog. Thola of Criamon is 83 years old. She is very reclusive, like the other members of her House. She tries to find the way to the Enigma in Nature. Her filius One Eyed is a good friend of her and of course follows the same way to the Enigma. Recent year Thola made a very strange trip, far away from her Covenant. Why is it so strange? Because even One Eyed wasn't allowed to go with her. Daranius of Verditius is 109 years old. He is the Primus of the Covenant. (Liagan doesn't agree.) He made a lot useful devices for the magi, even for Liagan. He is a Rego Auram specialist. Olennius of Tremere is 89 years old. He is a necromancer, like his mater, Elinor. He spends all (?) his time in his tower, in the Black Tower. When Council Meeting is called he sends "only" his familiar. It is obvious, that he is a Rego Corpus specialist. Brion of Tytalus is 93 years old. He likes traveling the land, and challenge the people. Once he met faeries too, and challenged them. But he failed. Since that time he doesn't like the Folk of the Woods... Water Keep is a quiet powerful Covenant. Its main opponent is Howling Hills. The continious clash between them use up almost all of his energies. Perhaps they had better care about the "unimportant" things too. |
